As a young woman, I let a lack of courage stop me from embarking on an extremely exciting career. I was interviewed by a large television company that was looking for someone to produce television commercials. I had no related experience at all, but I'd created such an enthusiastically hopeful resume that the department head decided to interview me.
When he met me, we really clicked. He thought I'd be great and was willing to train me. He grinned and said I had the job. Everything I didn't know flooded in on me. I couldn't believe that I would be able to make such a big jump up in life. In a few short weeks, I would be producing television commercials! My head flooded with thoughts of my own inadequacy. This new negative vision quickly turned into reality.
